Abissal | 2012-2013

The Abissal series is part of a body of photoperformance works created in the Salt Desert in Bolivia; in Havana, Cuba; in Budapest, Hungary; in Frankfurt, Germany; and in Canoa Quebrada, Brazil. It comprises a group of works that explore the abyssal layers of the sea from a mythological perspective, establishing associations with the origins of the species that inhabit the oceans.

The series maintains a direct relationship with Das Intimidades do Mar, expanding its poetic and conceptual inquiries. Recurringly, photography is revisited as a medium, an expressive resource, and a plastic language, manifesting through collages, photoperformances, and manual transfer processes.

This project was funded by the Secretariat of Culture of the State of Ceará for the production of photographs in the Salt Desert, in Bolivia. In 2013, it had an international exhibition in Havana, Cuba, at Galería El Reino de este Mundo, located in the José Martí National Library, in partnership with the Cuban artist Cirenaica Moreira. In 2014, it was selected for exhibition at the Centro Cultural dos Correios de Fortaleza.
