A Menina do Rio intertwines my grandmother’s memories with my own, confronting silences, affections, and gestures. Through photography, video, sewing, and affective objects, it creates a dialogue between presence and absence, reflecting on cultural continuity, women’s empowerment through sewing, and the invisible legacies across generations. This work was awarded the John Goto Prize by ESMAD Porto in 2024.
